Cancer is one of the most common causes of chronic disease and death in middle-aged to older dogs and cats. It’s estimated that over 32% of cats may die of cancer and that cancer kills 50% of dogs over 10 years of age.

 Early Detection Signs of Cancer

To detect early signs of Cancer and treat it more effectively, pet owners should check your pet regularly for warning signs recommended by the Veterinary Cancer Society:

  • Drastic changes in appetite
  • Weight Loss
  • Difficulty chewing or swallowing
  • Loss of stamina
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Discharge or bleeding from any body opening
  • Bad odor
  • Wounds not healing
  • Unwillingness to exercise

If you see your pet is experiencing any of the above signs, schedule an appointment with your veterinarian to evaluate your pet’s well being.
